The Bike Lot

I talk alot about the fact that we frequently have lots of neighbor kids over. Lately, the number of kids keeps getting larger and larger. On Saturday I went to the store for about an hour. When I came home this is what my front yard looked like.
Now, three of those bikes belong to my children. However the other six represent someone else'e child. A couple of those bikes were at our house by 10:30 Saturday morning and didn't leave until 4 when Larry and I decided to load everyone up in the car in an effort to get our house back. Granted, the easiest thing to do would be to just tell everyone it's time to go home. But for some reason that is really hard for us to do. Partly because those other kids make our kids so happy. They love to play with them and some of those kids are so stinkin cute that I love playing with them. What's a mom to do?!? Whenever I start to mumble about it Larry just laughs and reminds me that I wanted to be the house on the block where everyone came to play. And he's right. I did. Perfect example of be careful what you wish for 'cause you just might get it. On the bright side, my kids get to play with their friends and I know what they are doing and what is going on. Major plus! Especially in today's world. Downside, the popsicle budget is gone and I am sure a few of our neighbors think we are off our rockers. "Does the parade of kids ever stop? How many kids can they fit in that house anyway?" And of course no hot summerish day would be complete without a gang of kids on bikes in their swimming suits. The rest of the gang was to the left of the picture.

It's going to be a great summer!!

I agree with you. better to know where your kids are. I cnanot believe you have that many bikes in front of your house. Better to have your kids at your hosue then somewhere else.
